Dumpster diving can be a profitable way to increase your team’s net worth. A practice I use is to scan the transaction list from the previous week in each league. You don’t want to miss out or be the last to put in a claim for a player someone else simply has given up on or no longer has the space on his or her roster. You may be surprised of the talent coaches will loose faith in this time of the season. I the last couple weeks I have able to pickup Killorn and Palat from the Lightning, Hornqvist from the Pens, Halak from the Bruins, Pulock from the Islanders and Hyman from the Leafs. Just a few examples of what you can find in other people’s trash. This trend will continue to grow as the season runs down, especially if a hot player runs cold for a week or so. The shiny new toy always looks better to a coach than the slumping underachiever. Treasures are found by those who look for them.

Playing the waiver wire along with taking advantage of favorable schedules can boost your roster into the playoffs. Here are some free agent options that may be available in your pool:
