This will be a pretty terrible contract at the end of it.

I do not blame the Cardinals one bit for not shelling out that much money, even for Pujols. I understand that Cardinals fans are probably pissed beyond belief right now, but they made the right move. Berkman can move to first, and Craig will start in right.

Not matching that offer was the right move. I'm not pissed at the team. I'm moving on.

I just hope Cardinal fans aren't dumb enough to think that, just because we offered Pujols $220, that we're automatically gong to spend that same amount on other players. Prince is still out there, but at his weight, he'll be a DH in less than 5 years.

I bet you this, though. J Roll will be sporting a Brids on Bat.

I will say this: This Pujols signing takes the sweet out of the gum that is/was the World Series title.

Never thought this day would come. Tough to see him leave.

But seeing the money involved it's probably the right decision even if it hurts the team. But as you said time to move on. It's just not smart to pay anyone $25+ mio. at age 40+. The original 9-year offer would have been for 2 years less wich would have made more sense for the Cards.

And why not sign Fielder to a 5-6 year deal cashing in on his prime years which are still to come and then deal him to an AL team at the end of the deal.
Is there anybody in the farm roster who can be considered the 1B of the future? Too bad Wallace was dealt. Berkman is no long term solution.

"Show me the money!"

And fuck yeah, they did. You have to wonder what the difference between $20M and $25M a year is, but I guess that's about two mansions, three Ferrari's and some high end Ben and Jerry's ice cream... hahaha

Too bad for Cards fans, too bad he wouldn't have settled for a bit less and another shot at a World Series, but I guess he now has one so went for the dough, as I doubt the Marlins will get one with all that dough going to one guy and a meh team.

It's been a couple of days and I'm still not over Pujols leaving.

Just wanted to throw that out there.

It's just the way it all went down. What he has said over the years. I never buy into BS, so I feel duped because I did buy into the BS.
